Land Surface Temperature Data

At its core the atlas relies on Land Surface Temperature (LST) measurements. LST adds a unique perspective to Earth observation analysis. While radar and optical imagery show what the surface looks like and how it’s changing, LST reveals how the surface is actually behaving— in terms of heat and energy. Captured by thermal sensors, LST shows the near real-time “skin temperature” of the Earth, offering vital insights into everything from crop stress and urban heat to water use and infrastructure performance.
